When a Council Tax payer is remanded to prison, any sole remaining adult in the property can claim for a reduction to their charge for the period the person they normally live with is in prison.

The person in prison is exempt from Council Tax whilst they are being held.

However, if the prison sentence is due to non-payment of Council Tax, they are not allowed to claim this reduction.
